Tanso Racing Group GT3 League – Round 1 at Monza: Race Recap

Season 4 of the Tanso Racing Group GT3 League blasted off in epic fashion at the legendary Monza circuit, sponsored by Clark St James. This opener was a rollercoaster of excitement, with fierce battles, lightning-fast lap times, and a nail-biting finish that left everyone wanting more. Let’s dive into the action!

Qualifying Fireworks

The session kicked off with a bang as Peter Duke claimed pole position with a blistering 1:48 lap. But it was no easy ride with Simon Cheshire right on his tail, barely a tenth behind. Andy White rounded out the top three, but the real shocker was Ashley Brooks, our fearless AM class driver, sneaking into fourth overall—talk about making a statement!

Lights Out & Away We Go!

As the green flag waved, Peter Duke rocketed off the line, leading the charge into Monza’s infamous Prima Variante chicane, with Simon Cheshire glued to his rear wing. Despite Monza’s reputation for early chaos, the entire grid made it through clean—what a way to kick off the season!

Duking It Out at the Front

Up at the front, it was a high-speed chess match between Peter Duke and Simon Cheshire. Lap after lap, these two were neck and neck, trading blows like heavyweight fighters. Meanwhile, Ashley Brooks, our AM-class hero, was mixing it up with the pros, holding down third and proving he’s not here to play—he’s here to win.

Not far behind, Baz Cutting, Andy White, and Tim Reid were locked in a thrilling battle for the final podium spot. Overtakes, defensive moves, and close calls kept everyone on their toes.

Midfield Madness

Things were just as wild in the midfield! Sean Clark and Dave Clarke engaged in a race-long duel that had everyone glued to their screens. Lap after lap, they traded positions, with Dave Clarke finally getting the upper hand with a daring move at Ascari.

The fight between Ashley Brooks and Tim Reid was an instant classic. Despite being in different classes, Brooks wasn’t giving an inch. In a bold move at Ascari, Reid tried to make the pass but ended up sliding into the barriers—leaving Brooks to charge on unchallenged. That’s how you hold your ground!

Pit Strategy Perfection

The real magic of the race came down to the pits. Simon Cheshire played it smart, staying out longer and saving fuel like a pro. When it was time for him to pit, he nailed it—saving 3 seconds and leapfrogging Peter Duke to snatch the lead. Once Cheshire had clean air, there was no catching him!

In the AM class, Mark Vero had a flawless race, leading from start to finish, while Ashley Brooks kept the pressure on, bagging second place in class. Jordan Hadfield wrapped up the AM podium with a stellar drive.
